MOTUMAOHO DANCE

WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FARMERS’ UNION Airs. AY. Phillips gave an enjoyable dance at her home at Alotumaoho. last Thursday, in order to help the women’s division of the Farmers’ Union. About-60 guests were present, and dancing was enjoyed until a late hour. The rooms were prettily arranged with streamers, supper being served on the verandahs, where the tables were decorated with lovely rose blooips. During thp evening songs were given by Airs. Hastings, and Aliss Jean Hastings gave a pretty ballet toe dance. Alusic was supplied by Airs. G. Davies and Aliss R. Johnstone. Airs. Phillips, who was wearing a frock of rose crepe de chine, was assisted by Airs. Colbeck and Airs. D. E. Luke. LEAGUE OF MOTHERS MOUNT EDEN BRANCH MEETS The final meeting of this year of the Alount Eden branch of the League of Alothers was held in the' Gordon Road Alethodist Hall, on the evening of Wednesday, November 27. The meeting took the form of a social evening for fathers and mothers. Airs. Messer (president) being in the chair. Mrs. Mitchell (provincial president) and f iss Arey (provincial secretary) were present. with many members from other branches. Airs. Crump, secretary, briery outlined the objects of the league. There were several very enjoyable musical and elocutionary items, which were much appreciated. The two speakers for the evening were the Rev. Wilna Constable and the Rev. C. W. Chandler. “ The first of these spoke on the creative work "bf motherhood in co-operation with God. Air. Chandler told of his work among prisoners, and said that In most cases their trouble could be -traced back to faulty environment in childhood. In proposing a vote of thanks to the speakers and those who had helped, Mrs. AlitQhell spoke of Sabbath desecration, so prevalent today, and said that from it she had learnt that religion must permeate the whole life to be of. any value.
