BALLETS AND SONGS
CHILDREN’S CONCERT AIDING BAZAAR FUNDS Colourful ballets with pretty solo dances formed the chief offering of the programme given this afternoon in the St. Benedict’s Hall by pupils of the Misses Beresford. There were also vocal and instrumental numbers, making a pleasing and novel entertainment. The overture, played by an orchestra under Miss May Beresford, was followed by a chorus by pupils of the St. Benedict’s School. A. novelty ietm, “Nursery Rhymes,” in which children played in the roles of heroes who have delighted the juvenile mind for many years, brought ready applause from the audience. A pretty scena, “Down Vauxhall Way,” was also well received. One of the features of the entertainment is a dashing cowboy and Indian scena, which tells of the rescue of an Indian captive by his cowboy friends, who include an excellent representation of the "Wild West” hero, Tom Mix. The children are supported by Messrs. James Lonergan, Harold Hill and O’Connell, well known on the Auckland platform. The entertainment, which -was given in aid of the church bazaar funds, will be presented again at eight o'clock this evening.
