OTAHUHU BOROUGH COUNCIL

An offer from Mrs. Lawless to sell a section at the junction of Princes Street and Great South Road to the Otahuhu Borough Council was rejected at last evening’s meeting of the council. McCallum Bros, asked permission to lay a covering of tar on the concrete roads in the Otahuhu Borough. It was intended to lay strips of 25 feet in length, without cost to the council. The question was referred to the Works Committee, with power to act. An application on behalf of the Northern Athletic Union, for permission to hold a sports meeting on Sturges Park. Otahuhu, on January 25, 1930. was referred to the Parks Committee. Mr. Grey asked town clerk if any reply had been received from the Auckland Electric-Power Board relative to three extra lights in the district. The town clerk S;aid no reply had been received. Mr. Clements said the Power Board was the most remarkable body in existence. He could not understand it. It never acknowledged a letter from the council. Mr. Grey urged the advisability of communicating with the district's representative on the question, and this course was-adopted.
