PAPATOETOE PARK RESERVE
OPENING GALA DAY Mr. W. Brown, president of the Papatoetoe Town Board, presided over a full attendance of delegates of various associations on Wednesday evening, when arrangements were finalised for the offiGjal opening of the park reserve at Papatoetoe on December 14. Proceedings will commence with a floral procession from the Shirley Road Reserve at 2 p.m., and prizes will be awarded for the best decorated prams, bicycles and fancy dresses. The Papatoetoe Town Band will contribute a specially selected programme of musical items from the band rotunda, which has been built by voluntary labour, and which will be officially vested in the Town Board on the opening day. A comprehensive programme, comprising ten events, has been drawn up for the children. A representative committee, organised by Mrs. T. R. Smytheman, is arranging a baby show to be held on the park. Admission to the park will be free. A collection will .De taken up in the grounds. The total will be devoted to and installing swings, roundabouts, slides, etc., on the children’s area.
Mr. A. W. Hall, M.P. for Hauraki will officially open the park.
