SERVICE TO DOMINION

THEIR EXCELLENCIES PRAISED PRESBYTERY’S ADDRESS The Auckland Presbytery's appreciation of the services in Xnv Zealand of the Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, and Lady Alice Fergusson, was handed in the form of an inscribed address in a presentation at noon today. Between 30 and 10 Presbyterian ministers attended Government House for the ceremony, and the speaker on behalf of Presbytery was the Moderator, the Rev. W. D. Morrison-Suther-land. At the last meeting of Presbytery, a resolution was passed recording the appreciation of the distinguished services of Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fergusson. The form of Presbytery's resolution states: “During the term of office now closing, their Excellencies have not only maintained, but have., greatly enriched, the high traditions associated with the Governor-Generalship of this Dominion. Their ready and generous response made to heavy and continuous demands upon their practical sympathies have endeared them to all sections of the community. The Auckland Presbytery takes the opportiwiity of expressing its gratification at the encouragement which ’ Their Excellencies have given to the churches and the various organisations devoted to the spiritual and moral welfare of young and old. Their example has emphasised the vital relation between citizenship and religion and will long remain an inspiration to the coming generation.” Their Excellencies attended the presentation immediately after the Maori ceremony at the War Memorial Museum. Before one o'clock, Sir Charles arrived at the Lewis Eady Hall as the guest of the Rotary Club at its luncheon and at 3 p.m., he will pay a visit to King's College. Tomorrow, their Excellencies will make an inspection of the warships in port. Sir Charles will unveil memorials at the Pukekohe East Presbyterian Church on Sunday . afternoon and their Excellencies will leave by train for Hamilton.
