REPORT FROM EPSOM
Congregations of St. David’s, Epsom and Somervell Presbyterian Churches will hold their annual meetings on Wednesday.
The Epsom Church report states ! that the congregations had been larger j than in any previous year of the j church’s history. The communion roll | now stood at 298, 47 having joined j the church, which was a record for any one year. The average attendance at the quarterly communion had , been 178. a slight increase on last year, j The number of baptisms hag been .12. j The amount raised for missions was £33. in addition to contributions through the church envelope scheme. The session congratulated the Epsom School Committee on having introduced the Nelson system of Bible reading into the Epsom Public School. Tho main Sunday School and the branch schools had continued their good work. Tho main school had a membership of* 120 scholars and. a staff of 14 teachers. The ambulance hall branch nad a roll number of 26 and three teachers. The Pah Road branch had a roll number of 18 scholars and three teachers. The superintendent of the main school. Mr. Syd. J. Harbutt, resigned at the end of last year, after serving for 12 years and completing over 40 years’ Sunday School work. The report of the board of managers states that the amount raised for al! purposes was £1,735. The budget benefited to the extent of £l5O and £3O was subscribed toward the orphanages. ! The statement of the present acciunr is presented without a debit balance and the loan from the Auckland Savings Bank has been reduced by £7O.
