ROMANCE AND COLOUR

“DESERT SONG’S” POPULARITY

Romance, desert sounds, moonlight, brilliant colours and haunting melodies easily catch popular imagination, and Aucklanders have not escaped the enchantment. “The Desert Song” is drawing crowded houses to His Majesty’s Theatre, where this melodious and spectacular musical play continues its successful season. Not only is “The Desert Song” a bright and tuneful spectacle, but it also possesses something quite tangible in the way of a plot. Dennis King, former light opera favourite, plays the featured role of Villon in the film version of "The Vagabond King. ’
