“SYNCOPATION” TOMORROW

This evening sees the final screening at the Roxy Theatre of the fine alltalking drama, “Freedom of the Press,” starring Walter Haston and Kay Francis, together with its supporting talkies.

A few years ago four Pennsylvanian State College boy:., Fred Waring and Tom Waring. Fred Buck and “Poley" McClintock, got together and learned a l'ew dance numbers. They played two banjos, a piano and drums at their tirst dance at "Penn State” and displayed such a pleasing original style of dance music that this first engagement led to calls for many others. Such was the humble beginning of the now famous “Waring’s Pennsylvanians,” in the all-talker "Syncopation,” the K.K.O. musical comedy extravaganza coming to the Roxy Theatre tomorrow. For seven years they have travelled across the country playing recordbreaking engagements in the large motion picture houses. In addition to these appearances they have played in Lodun, Berlin and Paris, and when signed up to play for “Syncopation” they were malting New York a merrier place to live in by their headlined featured act in “Hello Yourself,” the George Choos musical comedy at the Casino Theatre. These peppy jazz artists play nine selections, ranging from the theme song. “I'll Always be in Love Witn You." by Sammy Stept, to Victor Herbert's “Sweet Mystery of Life.” Others in the cast are Barbara Bennett, Bobby Watson. lan Hunter. Morton Downey, Osgood Perkins. Mackenzie Ward. Yer-1-ee Teasdale and Dorothy Lee. Peppy <azz, golden song, snappy dancing a a heart-clutching love story, are promised in this film operetta of Broadway lives and loves, first of the Radio pictures released by R.K.O.
