A. NY. Jones was in a bouffant black taffeta gown. j Ivory chiffon of uneven length was chosen by Mrs. Roy Bridgeman. | Airs. Clelaiui was in daffodil yellow crepe de sole. j Airs. Albeit .Melville’s satin and chifi fon gown combined pretty shades of blue and pink. Airs. Turner chose pale capucine georgette. Airs. 11. Johnston's black georgette, gown was embroidered with dark blue . sequins. Airs. McCallum wore pastel georgette, embossed in platinum shade. Ali-s. Gunn wore ivory and silver lame. Mrs I. Al. Allen’s gown was of eidel- " - s blue georgette with diamente belt, j Airs. Marie-Giles was in a frock of lisbo" blue georgette, embroidered with rln nestones. Prettiest larkspur blue georgette with sk_irt of cascading frills was worn by ALiss Dene Plummer was wearing a chenille embossed georgette gown ' of forest green. .Miss Jean Lawford chose a frock of cherry ninon. Dainty flowered ninon, with a background of printempts green, was worn by Miss Dolly Vaile. Miss Alolly Simnionds had a vivid scarlet flower poised on tlie shoulder of her I black ring velvet gown. Aliss Eva Soljak chose an ivory crepe. > de chine frock trimmed with silk fringe . j Aliss Hamilton was wearing cameo pink satin broche. Ivory chenille embossed georgette fashioned the becoming frock worn by Aliss Rhonnda Sussex. A smart frock of black cire lace and taffeta over flesh pink georgette was worn by Miss D. Thomas. Aliss Olga Read was frocked in lavender ring velvet. Aliss Horton’s pretty ankle-length gown was of pompadour pink corded taffeta. Aliss D. Bennett had on corn-yellow georgette. Aliss ITaneelle Drier’s gown of black | ring velvet was appliqued with roses. I WEDGWOOD BLUE Aliss Ellice Alison's frock of wedgwood blue metal lace was relieved with silver. Aliss Kitty Horsley was in palest begonia tinted chiffon. Miss Ails a. Lewis wore a charming gown of buttercup yellow satin and taffeta with blue embroideries. Aliss Alfreda Suler wore a smart frock of ivory lace. Miss Audrey Alison chose a period | gown of ivory taffeta. Aliss Anita Pagni was in ivory satin beaute. Aliss Alolly Gifford’s frock was of amethyst charmeuse. Miss Schischka was gowned in cloth of silver. Aliss Mavis Clark chose a beaded frock in apple green. Salmon pink taffeta was worn by Aliss Culan. Miss Eve Barton was wearing cameo pink and green crepe de chine. Aliss E. Glennon had on black velvet with black lace over phlox pink satin. Aliss Ifwerson had chosen a pretty ivory georgette frock. AJauve satin, ankle length, was Aliss Rita Darby’s choice. Aliss Alary Spellman wore scarlet georgette and gold lace. Aliss Rona Gifford was in white taffeta, ankle length at back. Aliss Leahy, Greymouth, was wearing a smart frock of emerald satin with gold relief. Aliss ATavis ATcArthur wore a scarlet ring velvet frock. Miss Parsons was in shell pink tulle with side draperies. Miss Olive Bayley was in a frock of black taffeta. Miss Vera Harding had chosen a frock of apricot georgette and silver lace. A pretty frock of green and pastel lace was worn by Aliss D. Chaney. Aliss Gwen Kenriek bad chosen a lovely frock of rose pink taffeta and gold lace. Aliss D. Alairs was wearing nile green velvet, with diamente trimming. 1 Black georgette with an overdress of spotted net was worn by Aliss Gray. ; Aliss Alice Thomas had on a pretty frock of pink georgette over shot pink tissue. A period frock of shot, green taffeta was Aliss A. Johnston’s choice. Aliss Alma O'Neill was wearing a maize-gold ninon frock. MANY VISITORS ATTEND BRIGHT POKENO DANCE 5 Organised by the Social Committee, a most successful dance was held in ' the recently-erected Pokeno Hall last . week. Visitors were present from all r parts of the district. Dance music was played by Watts’s : Orchestra. Messrs. F. Kelsail and IT. > Woodcock were masters of ceremonies. A letter containing her resignation as president was received from Airs. Wood. This was accepted with great regret. The Wanganui Karitane Hospital wrote appealing for funds to help with i the enlargement of the hospital. It i was decide*d to give £3 3s as the dis--3 trict bepefits through the activities of the hospital. It was moved by Airs. Woodlock, that Mesdames Hussey and Fetzer ap- _ proach the Borough Council at its next ’ meeting to ask for an annual grant toward the society’s funds. 3 On the motion of Airs. Carver, Airs. Hussey was elected as president for the remainder of the term. A hearty vote of thanks was passed r to the men who helped with the carnival, also to Air. Alurdie for carting free of charge at various times. Nurse Smith was admitted as a .. member of the committee. A garden party is to be hold at Airs. • Carver's early in December to help s the work. ’ i Airs. Colman was authorised to take s | steps to raise funds for necessary fur- ! nishings for the rooms.
