WANGANUI SALE
CONTINENT BUYING FREELY j From Our Own Correspondent \V A2\ GANUI, Thursday. Prices at the first Wanganui «aip .lur the 1929-30 season, which opened ! tnday lield practicaiiy on a par with those at Wellington and Napier The catalogue comprised 5.700 bales. The bulk of tho offering went to Continental markets, Germany taking the major share. Bradford bid freelv at re dueed limits. | The greater portion of the offering i eumprised wools from dry sheep, and I there was a reflection of the season's j indifferent weather in the general appearance and condition of the wool. Compared with the prices realised at I closing sales last year there was I a “TOP ranging from lid to 3d. Fine wools were down to a greater extent than coarser sorts. In some instances wool that was passed in at the end of I tU J ea ?°" at lad to l(ld sold today at j lid to l_d. This indicated a feeling | on the growers’ part that the market was uncertain. Pieces and bellies met with a good demand, but the small offering from early shorn iambs was hardly inquired lor. Bidding was animated. The bulk of the growers met the market and a fair proportion of those who were dubious at lirst did business afterward at the market figure. Taken as a whole the sale must be considered an entirely satisfactory one on present market t o,lues. -shabby clips in some cases were dearer than anticipated.
