REWARD OF BRAVERY

ALBERT MEDAL AWARDED TO NAVAL MEN EXPLOSION ON CRUISER RUGBY, Thursday. The Albert Medal has been awarded to Lieutenant-Commander Maxwell Hyslop and Albert Streams, of the Marines, for gallantry in saving life. The acts were performed in July, when a heavy explosion caused by a hang-fire occurred in a turret on board the cruiser Devonshire during firing' practice in the Aegean Sea, killing 16 men. Although tlie two men knew the danger incurred through the heavy cordite fumes and the risk of further explosions, while the fire was still raging they entered the turret at grave personal risk. They succeeded in carrying out the wounded and in preventing the ignition of other cordite charges.
