WRESTLING IN DUNEDIN
JOHANNSON BEATS VANCE Press Association DUNEDIN, Thursday. The wrestling season in Dunedin concluded this evening when AVal Joliannson, 13st., heavy-weight champion of Finland, beat Farmer Vance, 1 31b., light-heavy-weight champion of Canada, by two falls to one. The contest was hard and Vance’s spectacular display was not as much in evidence as usual. Vance secured a submission fall with a toehold, leglock and armhold in the third round. Jn the concluding rounds Johannson was doing most of tho attacking', Vance showing remarkable resistance and capacity for extricating himself from difficult situations. Johannson secured a fall in the sixth round with an arm scissors and another fall in the seventh round with a short-arm scissors and arm bar. Vanco was a little unlucky, as in the second round tho gong saved Johansson from a certain fall.
MR. MORTON’S SERVICE At this week’s meeting of the Xew Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, a resolution was passed placing on record t h e valuable service rendered to athletics by Mr. *\V. Morton, until recently president of the Auckland Centre.
