At a meeting of parents and sympathisers some hard language was used over the action of the trustees in selling Scot’s College to the Government. On their behalf it was explained that the interest could not be paid to debenture holders and depositors and the college was losing £ 1,345 per It was stated that at least £IO,OOO would be required in cash to carry on and the meeting determined to endeavour to raise this and to negotiate with the Government to release the trustees from the sale. The sum of £3,500 was subscribed in the room.
