EMPRESS SHOWS “THE IDLE RICH”
The story of "The Idle Rich,’’ the talkie now at the Empress Theatre, Xewton, that of an average American family in a typical middle-class flat in a large city, is romantic, comic and crammed with heart interest. Conrad Xagel plays a seriousminded young millionaire who marries his stenographer, Eoila Hyams, the daughter of the flat-dwelling family. He is introduced to her family, and to show how democratic he is, lives with them for a time. He wants to help the family despite the fact the radical cousin harangues him on the crime of wealth and humiliation of charity. Only the little flapper sister, played by Bessie Love, sees how the entire family benel th ir ivwly-ac-quired relation to wealth. The talkie supports include three songs by Frances White, musical comedy star, songs by the well-known gramophone recording artist, Marion j Harris, and items by Van and Sehenek, ; singing comedians.
