I.<ee, j veteran Paramount director, who made the all-talking thriller, “The Mysteri- ! ous Dr. Fu Manchu” which is now’ drawing to the close of its season at the New Regent Theatre. “The Mysterious Dr. Fu Manchu,” the famous Sax Rohmer story, has J been made to live on the screen j through the sound medium. The j j atmosphere of mystery and dramatic j realism that permeates the story is considerably heightened by the audibility of the accompanying sounds and dialogue. The current programme a 1; the Regent, which also includes a number of short talking and singing featu.r«ttes, will be shown until Friday next. There is a musical comedy on the screen that can only be seen in the flesh on Broadway, and it is coming to the Regent on Saturday. There has never been anything quite like it on the screen, and everyone will enjoy the melody of Irving Berlin and the merry antics of the Four Marx Brothers, who are presented by Paramount in the original stage production that made them famous and made the Xew Yorkers' gladly pay thirty shillings for seats.
