Stewart, Thomas 15; TI. YVright, Laurie 12, v. McLeod. Canton 7; Audley, Firth 76, v. Massey, Witham 15. Second Round.—Higginbotham 18, v. YVitham 10; Parsons 23, v. Laurie 8; Firth 12, v. Canton 11; Hill 15, v. Thomas 14. Third Round.—Canton 16, v. Hill 9: Parsons 16, v. Higginbotham 12; Laurie 24, v. Firth 14; Thomas 20, v. YVitham 15. Fourth Round. —Thomas 19, v. Higginbotham 6; YVitham 14, v. Canton 13; Hill 16, v. Laurie 6; Parsons 13, v. Firth 12. Parsons having four wins to his credit took the prize. TAUPIRI CLUB From Our Own Correspondent TAUPIRI, Monday. The official opening of the Taupiri Bowling Club took place on Saturday. Alter the stormy weather experienced during the week the club was fortunate in having a line day, but for the strong westerly wind that swept the green. The club has been to much trouble in order to secure a good green, the centre having been found to be depressed and to need topdressing with soil in places to a depth of three-quarters of an inch. In welcoming the visiting clubs, the president, Mr. R. T. Hill, made mention of tho fact that as a result of the members’ efforts during the winter, the season opened with the club in full possession of its grounds, pavilion and all appliances purchased during the previous season. The games resulted as follow: Barber, Wycherley. Prickett, Pilkington ({South Suburban Bowling Centre; 31, v. Catley. Buss, Bing, Jackways (Taupiri) S; Thompson, Howell, Mara, Williams (Frankton Railway) 20, v. Bell, YY'arburton. Hill, Burkett (Ngaruawahia) 79; Muller, Perkins, Hulme, Speight (Cambridge) 36, v. Murphy, Day, Horwood, Hill (Taupiri) 10; Morris, Nicholson, Simpson, McLeod (Glen Massey) 22, v. Whitehorn, Gorman, Gleeson, Laybourn (Taupiri) 12; Nicol. Mason, Burrough, Carswell (Wliitiora) 31, v. Barrell, Troupe, Rabone, Astle (Frankton) 7. Tho president of the South Auckland Bowling Centre, on behalf'of the visiting clubs, thanked the Taupiri members for the hospitality and enjoyable afternoon’s entertainment afforded them. He congratulated the Taupiri Club on the appearance of its green and grounds. Ho had come, he said, feeling some sympathy was needed to a young club, but discovered that this was not necessary', as the club was free from all liability’, and even showed a credit balance, a very satisfactory condition for a club just commencing its second year of play'. He gave a cordial invitation to all present to witness the games at Hamilton with the visiting Canadian bowlers.
