AMBASSADOR APPOINTED BY SOVIET MOSCOW, Saturday. It is officially announced that M. Grigory Sokolnikoff, president of the Naptha Syndicate, has been appointed Russian Ambassador in Britain. Now -41 years of age, Grigory Sokolnikoff was early connected with the Labour movement in Russia, and earlytasted the bitterness of exile. He joined the Bolsheviks in 1905, and occupied important posts, rising after the Revolution to the position of Commissar of Finance. In 1905, a big loan scheme which he had arranged wirh Germany broke down. Later, he was thrust into the background of political affairs; but now he comes to the fore again, to take the highly responsible position of Soviet .Ambassador to Britain.
