Roseberry Tennis Club Dance AT BIRKENHEAD The Roseberry Tennis Club held its opening dance in the Victoria Hall, Birkenhead, on Saturday evening. Mr. F. TothiU carried out the duties of M.C., and Miss Staytc’s orchestra supplied the dance music, which was greatly appreciated. Among those present were: Mrs. L. Kelly, who was wearing a floral rayon frock; Mrs. A. Anderson, black velvet with scarlet posy; Mrs. C. l't. AleKins try, plum georgette with silver trimmings; Mrs. G. Davies, navy blue silk marocain; Mrs. Tliorburn. black satin frock; Mrs. W. Neech, black georgette with uneven hemline: Mrs. F. TothiU, black ninon over cherry; Mrs. D. Norton, lavender georgette with posy. Miss IT. Chetwynd chose white crepe de chine trimmed with red: Miss M. Chetwynd, lime georgette with flared skirt; Miss X. Yellands, apple green georgette with posy and shawl to match; Miss P. Wheeler, flame embossed silk frock; Miss V. Nickalls, sea-green net, with uneven hem; Miss Mae Stanley, flame velvet and crepe de chine frock; Miss J. Johnson, white taffeta frock; Miss E. C. Johnson, ivory georgette frock; Miss T. Stinneai', white satin with ankle-length skirt of frills; Miss B. Crombie, pink crepe de chine with silver lace and blue flowers; Miss Stayte, delphinium blue crepe de chine frock; Miss Rene Taylor, white fuji silk' frock; Miss K. Donohoe, silver tinsel bodice, with frilled skirt; Miss M. Sutcliffe, blue silk rayon frock; Miss E. Ross, sea-green georgette with uneven hem of lace; ATiss yeutt (Herne Bay), black satin corsage with tulle skirt. NORTHCOTE NOTES SOCIAL CLUB DANCE The Northcote Co-operative Social Club held its monthly dance in the Parish Hall on Saturday evening, when 50 couples spent a pleasant evening. Old-time dance music was supplied by Mr. W. Mayall’s Orchestra, while Air. F. W. Mitchell acted as M.C. Just before Christmas the club will entertain the children at a musical evening when each one will be presented with a Christmas gift. The members themselves intend to hold their final dance of the year on Christmas Eve. * * * GIFT EVENING A most successful gift party was held on Thursday evening at the residence of Air. and Airs. J. Huy, ‘‘Calliope,” Onewa Road, Northcote, some 90 guests being present. A large and useful assortment of gifts for the stalls at the forthcoming Presbyterian bazaar and fair was thereby collected. Airs. J. Hay received the guests, assisted by her daughters, Mrs. B. Hunter and Aliss Ethel Hay. and a most pleasant evening was spent, musical items being rendered and enthusiastically received. Before departing Messrs.. D. Alunro and X>. AloKinnon expressed to Air. and Mrs. Hay the thanks of those present for the delightful evening. The bazaar will be held early next month in the spacious grounds surrounding “Calliope," the proceeds being in aid of the new church building fund. The sum at present in hand for the new church is £740. and as soon as the sum of £BOO is realised, the erection of the church will be commenced.
