DUNEDIN CLUB
ANNUAL REPORT PRESENTED DRIVE FOR MORE MEMBERS j "Your committee l'eels tluit the memI bers are not doing - their duty in mak- | ing the club better known, and bring- ! ins in new members. It is very noticeable that most of the nominations for membership are handed in by members of the committee,” states the annual report of the Dunedin Club, Auckland, which is to be presented at the annual meeting of the club next Wednesday. “It is also felt,” continues the report, “that it is not widely known by members and Southerners generally that the provisions of the club provide that every ox-Southerner who has resided I south of the Waitaki River- for 12 1 months may be eligible for member- ! ship.” During the year eight socials were held, which were well attended and proved highly successful. As the season progressed the attendances of both members and visitors increased, and this was due in no small degree to the excellent music provided. In the social room card tournaments had been keenly contested and these competitions were indeed becoming one of the features of the club's activities. A J credit balance of £ll 3s Id is to be ' carried forward to the next year. | Two important items in the general ' business at the annual meeting on Wednesday will be to consider: (1) | That it be made a rule that a limited : number of members, not necessarily I ex-Southerners. be admitted as associate members without voting power or | any voice in the management of the j club: and (2) to consider the motion that the words “Dunedin Club” be de- ; loted and the words “Dunedin Social j Club” be substituted.
