CHURCH FINANCE
OTAHUHU ANGLICANS’ TRUST FUND DISBURSEMENT SCHEME The disbursement of a fund created in 1907 fur building and furnishing the new Anglican church at Otahuhu, which has now been consummated, will be decided on December 0, when a scheme of administration for the money will be submitted to the Supreme Court for sanction. The sum of £242, which was made the nucleus of a building fund by the Otahuhu parish in 1907, and which was vested in trust in the Auckland General Diocesan Trust Board, has developed in the intervening 22 years to £907. Under the scheme now put forward with the approval of the General Diocesan Trust Board, portion of the fund will be allocated toward building and furnishing costs of the new church, which was completed for £7,755. The balance is to be applied in reduction of the overdraft incurred with the Bank of New Zealand by the Holy Trinity (Otahuhu) parish to meet the cost of erection and equipping the new building. The Holy Trinity Parish Trust Board applied to the Supreme Court some time ago for an order to' compel the General Diocesan Trust Board to hand over the fund toward the cost of the new church, but Mr. Justice Kennedy declined to take this action on the ground, that apart from noncompliance with certain detailed terms ot the trust, there was a specific provision that the fund should not be dealt with for building and furnishing costs until it reached £5,166. However lus Honour left it to the parties to apply to the Court with a specific scheme of administration for the fund under “The Religious, Charitable and Educational Trusts Act.” Apparently the plan now submitted is fully approved by the General Diocesan Trust Board.
