OPEN FOR INSPECTION THIS EVENING LEAVES LATER Before the Auckland Commerce train leaves the railway station this evening the platform will be thrown open to the public, who will have an opportunity of inspec- !■"» thl T luxurious appointments of the sleeping compartments, the V° U : 3 . eS - and l the comissariat. The train will he away for nine days, during which 60 business men and departmental officers will be the guests of provincial organisations: X HE 1929 Commerce Train is the natural sequel to last year’s excursion through the Auckland Province. Its value as au educative factor in the life of the city business man becomes almost a minor consideration when compared with its influence in welding together the interests of town and country. feo satisfied indeed are the country districts with the results which attended last year’s train, that extensive hospitality has been prepared in every town included in the itinerary, and the generosity of local bodies and societies in providing motor-cars and general entertainment is a feature of this excursion. Most of the business men are from Auckland, but three guests on the train are commercial men from Wellington, and one hails from Nelson. This desire to see more of the North is regarded as an encouraging tendency by those who are pushing the development of the province. After visiting Pokeno this evening and Paeroa tomorrow, the Commerce party will return through Auckland and thoroughly comb the North Auckland districts, investigating its agricultural and developmental potentialities and learning more of its geography. The train leaves Auckland at 9 o’clock this evening and returns from Whangarei on the evening of Sunday, November 24.
