Prime Minister of Iraq, shot himself dead iu the presence of his family. lie had previously written to his son. explaining his reasons. The letter attributes the suicide to his countrymen’s misjudging his efforts oil behalf of Iraq, and regarding him as a traitor and a servant of the British. Sir Abdul Muhsin Beg al Sadun had been Prime Minister of Iraq siuee January. 1925. Previously lie had occupied that position from November, 1922, to December. 1929. lie was the head of the great Sadun family, at one time the leaders of the Mnntatik tribes and for many years practically independent rulers. liven Basra was once successfully held by the Sadun family for several years against all the efforts of the Turkish Government to recapture it. Abdul Muhsin in the present Cabinet was Foreign Minister as well as Leader.
