SOUTH AUSTRALIA BEATEN BY 239 RUNS SECOND INNINGS COLLAPSE United r.A. —By Telegraph—Copyright ADELAIDE, Tuesday. The English cricketers today won their match against South Australia by 239 runs. When stumps were drawn yesterday England had scored 168 and 416, and South Australia 259 and 40 for five wickets (Richardson, not out, 1), the visitors thus having a lead of 325. When play was resumed this morning the remainder of South Australia’s wickets fell cheaply on a soft pitch. This was affected by rain, which caused an hour’s delay. Barratt and Allom reaped a harvest of easy wickets, and the local side’s innings closed for 86. SHEFFIELD SHIELD NEW SOUTH WALES BEATS QUEENSLAND BKISBANE, Tuesday. The Sheffield Shield cricket match, Queensland v. New South Wales, was concluded today. Queensland in its second innings scored 275 (Oxenham 117, O’Connor 27). New South Wales won by 23 runs. The full scores were: New South Wales, 373 and 198; Queensland, 273 and 275.
