OSCAR WILDE’S PLAY

A SUCCESSFUL READING A most successful reading of Oscar Wilde’s brilliant comedy, -The Importance of Being Ernest,” was given by Air. Russell-Wood’s reading circle at 5 Alount Street, on Alonday evening. During the winter 12 plays have been performed and much pleasure has been derived from tho readings by both the readers and their friends. On this occasion the play selected was very well interpreted by the following:—• John Worthing, J.P., read by Airs. Russell-W ood; Algernon Aloncrieff, Air. J. A. Sharp; the Rev. Canon Chasuble, D.D., ATr. Fred Asher; Alerriman and Lane (butlers), Air. R. Jacobsen; tho Hon. Gwendolen Fairfax, Aliss Hope Asher; Cecily Cardew, Aliss Edna Thomas; Aliss Prism (governess). Airs. E. Lovell. At the conclusion of the reading a dainty supper was served. ORANGES FOR FRUIT SALAD Oranges form an important and refreshing ingredient in a fresh fruit salad, but to be attractive they must be deprived very neatly of the" pithy covering, otherwise the quarters will look ragged. The easiest way to accomplish this is to soak the orange for about five minutes in boiling water before peeling. Then the pith will come clean away with the skin, leaving the sections quite clean.
