AT PAPATOETOE

WELCOME TO VICAR TOWN HALL RECEPTION There was an attendance of more than 13l» members and friends of the St. George's Anglican Church, Papatoetoe, at a very enjoyable reception to the Rev. A. Partridge, M.A., held at the Town Hall. Papatoetoc. last evening. Mr. F. 11. Leonard presided, and a full attendance of the vestry was present. Visiting clergy included the Revs. F. Dobson. W. A! Silvester, T. H. Roseveare, "W. .1. Gow and F. Harrison. Proceedings opened with a prayer led by tho Rev. W. T. Foulkes. In a short address the chairman extended a cordial welcome to the new vicar and his wife, referring to the necessity °f loyal co-operation between the parishioners and their parish priest. Mr. A. It. Smith, on behalf of the trustees of the Papatoctoe Orphans’ Home, welcomed Mr. Partridge and his wife, and expressed the hope that the same spirit as that of his predecessor would prevail in his teaching of the children. In reply, Mr. Partridge thanked the chairman and parishioners for their hearty welcome to himself find his wife, and further impressed the necessity of loyal co-operation. He also extended thanks to Mr. Foulkes for attending to the parish during the six months’ interval. Musical items were contributed by Mrs. Highland, Mrs. JToyle, Miss Marv Wilson (vocal solos), Miss Thelma Myers (elocutionary items) and Mr. Walker, a violin solo.
