COLLEGE REMEMBERS
HONOURING OLD BOYS , CEREMONY AT KINGS’ A large congregation was present in the King's College Chapel last evening for the annual service held in connection with Armistice Day celebrations. The lesson w-as read by Archbishop Averill, who was attended by Archdeacon H. A. Plawkins as chaplain. The headmaster. Canon H. K. Archdall. and the Rev. Clement Houehen. of St. Heliers’ Bay, were in the chancel, along witli the Rev. G. T. Hobson, chaplain of H.M.S. Philomel, an old boy of the college. Mr. Robson spoke of the sacrifice and service of those who upheld the torch of duty during times <*' stress. There was much to be learned from those who had passed through the college before them. | All lights were extinguished with the exception of the Toe H lamp of j remembrance near the altar, which ! had been lighted by Sir George Rich--1 ardson and Mr. Horace Dyer, and the I small lamp at the eastern end of the chapel -which shone dully on the j brass memorial tablet. The headj mast then repeated the words ! of remembrance. The names of old boys who fell in the war were read j out and the “Last Post” played. The lights went on as the reveille was sounded. The congregation included General Sir George Richardson. LieutenantColonel T. H. Dawson, officer commanding the Ist Battalion, Auckland Regiment, the Rev. H. K. Vickery, of the Seamen’s Mission, the Rev. R. G. Coats, padre, and members of the Auckland Group of Toe H, as well as parents and old boys.
