BOGUS MAJOR CHARGED
WEARING AUSTRALIAN UNIFORM FORGERY ALLEGATIONS Reed. 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Friday. Aloysius Tops, alias Major Tops, D. 5.0., posing as a major in the Australian Forces, was charged with Use Trube, a young Latvian woman, with failing to report their movements as aliens. Tops on October 24 gave his name as Aloysius Christoffel Tops when he appeared in the Manchester City Court with Trube, who was bound over for failure to register as an alien. Seven charges against Tops related to forgery and false statements in connection with passports and other documents, including a cheque the amount of which had allegedly been altered from £1 18s to £BO 18s, and also unlawfully wearing an officer’s uniform of the Australian Forces, and six military medals. Tops was committed for trial on the forgery and false declaration charges. The other charges were adjourned.
