FOR THE FROZEN SOUTH
VESSELS PREPARE TO LEAVE DUNEDIN SAIL NEXT MONTH Preparations for the dispatch of the vessels City of New York and Eleanor Bolling to the South Polar regions, to co-operate with the work of the Byrd expedition during the summer months, are well advanced, according to ad.vice received by Spedding,. Ltd., the Auckland agents. The City of New York is at present in dock at Port Chalmers, and as soon as work upon her is completed she will be replaced by the Eleanor Bolling, which is to be painted, and to undergo overhaul. Inspection of goods for the Barrier party will then be carried out, and they will be sorted and loaded. After taking in coal supplies, the City of New York will leave Dunedin for the Barrier about December 15, using her sails only in order to conserve coal.
The Eleanor Bolling will follow about the end of December, and the two vessels will meet off the Barrier, both then passing through together.
