The Supplementary Estimates for the current year were brought down Jn the House of Representatives today. Among the grants were the following items of interest: Maui Pomare overhaul, £15,940.
Air pageants, £I,OOO New lighthouse tender, £38,000 on account. Assistance to tobacco industry. £I,OOO. Cost oi travelling expenses Allan Wilkie Shakespearian Company on tour, in New Zealand, £750. Paeroa-Pokeno railway survey, £5.000. Paparua prison farm, £10,625. Main highways, additional amount required for current year, £50,000.
Native land settlement under Native Land Amendment and Native Claims Adjustment Act, 1929. £25,000. New Zealand-Australia mail service ■ubsidy, £15,000. Expenses in connection with cut-over to automatic telephone system at Christchurch, £l5O. Additional subsidies to hospital and kharitable aid boards. £32,000.
Expenses of inquiry employment of Jlaoris by Chinese, £l5O. Grant toward model village, Whakr.rewarewn, £SOO.
Contribution toward expenses unveiling ceremony of memorial to the late Sir Janies Ci rroll, £SOO.
Charges in connection with commission reporting on position of employment for incapacitated returned soldiers, .£2,000.
