BRITISH COAL-MINERS

CONFERENCE IN LONDON ON STATE PLANS British Official Wireless RUGBY, Tuesday. Delegates from all the coalfields in Britain are today attending a special conference in London of the Miners’ Federation. They will consider the proposals in regard to the coal industry which the Government will embody in legislation in the course of the present session. The conference also will give authorisation to the executive to take part in tomorrow’s joint conference with the coalowners. This has been called by the Government. The proposals of the Government provide for reducing the daily working hours in mines to seven and ahalf from April 6, 1930, the gradual acquisition by the State of mine royalties and schemes for the regulation of prices and output.
