MAJESTIC
“BLOCKADE” TOMORROW The current programme of the Alajestic Theatre will be screened for the last time this evening. This includes the fine all-talking society drama. “Pleasure Crazed,” starring Marguerite Churchill and Dorothy Burgess, and the supporting programme of short talkie features.
With a theme of universal interest —based upon the liquor problem—portrayed by a cast of - seasoned artists, in which Anna Q. Nilsson holds first rank, and brought to the screen with masterly directorial ability, “Blockade,” will be the new attraction at the Alajestic tomorrow.
It is a powerful and vivid depiction of the ceaseless warfare that is carried on along the east coast of the United States between organised imm runners and the law enforcement officials of the Government.
From every point of view, “Blockade,” an RKO special, is an ideal vehicle for the return of Anna Q. Nilsson to the screen. In a role of a woman of mystery who, in command of her own fast cruising yacht, is the nemesis of rum runners off the Florida Keys, Aliss Nilsson gives a compelling and artistic performance quite in keeping with her stellar rank in filmdom.
Wallace MacDonald, the leading man, portrays the romantic and highly dramatic role opposite her most acceptably and gives a good account of himself in the climatic battles in which the forces of Uncle Sam rout the rum runners.
An entertaining programme of short talkie supports will also be presented by the Alajestic tomorrow.
