MUNICIPAL BAND
ON THE AIR AGAIN AGREEMENT WITH COMPANY After having been ofE the air for a year, the Municipal Band concerts will be available to radio listeners from Saturday evening next. The decision was arrived at yesterday by the Finance Committee of the City Council, which agreed to accept from the Radio Broadcasting Company of New Zealand, Ltd., a payment of £ 450 for the right to broadcast the city’s music for a >’ear. The agreement is the culmination of negotiations extending over a considerable period. Last week the managing director of the company,* Mr. A. Harris, made certain proposals to the Mayor and the town clerk, which were duly submitted to the Finance Committee. The arrangement provides for the broadcast of both Town Hall and park performances of the band and the six concerts to be given by the Municipal Choir during the year. The band will be on the air on Saturday evening, and thereafter on Sunday and Saturday evenings, alternately.
