LADIES' AUXILIARY OF THE COMMUNITY SUNSHINE ASSOCIATION HOLDS MEETING AND AT HOME

PROGRESS OF SOLARIUM The usual monthly meeting and “At Home” of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Community Sunshine Association, was held on Thursday afternoon in the social hall of the School liquse, Kelson Street. Reports were read from conveners of sub-committees dealing with various phases of the auxiliary work, such as library and buffet in connection with the Community Club work for girls and boys of the district. The bridge committee was engaged in preparing for its final party of the season in the Lewis Eady Hall that night. The president. Mrs. X. E. Ferner, reported that the building of the solarium was going on well, and that it would be ready by the end of the year. Special equipment was necessary, such as a stretcher and blankets for each child to rest on during the day, also adjustable chairs and tables. It was estimated that this equipment would cost £lO a child, and it was suggested that any such outfit presented to the Sunshine School by an individual or society should be marked with the donor's name upon it, as cots at the hospital. Already such a gift had been received, and members were desired to make this appeal known among their friends. This met with immediate response from one of the ladies present, who expressed her wish to donate an equipment herself. It was stated that a sewipg guild was being formed to make articles for use at the school. Mrs. Ferner also reported having received an offer of a large house at the seaside for a term of years, this to be used for a summer camp for delicate children. This generous offer was under consideration, and though it would involve a considerable outlay of money, it vyas hoped to be able to manage it. Mrs. Crump of the Penwomen’s League, was the guest r> f the afternoon, and gave an inte ing talk on “Reminiscences of Au. . and,” after which tea was served by the house committee. Among those present were:—Mrs. Ferner, Mrs. Crump, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Pratt, Mrs. Kerr, Mrs. Williamson, Mrs. Winks, Mrs. Messenger, Mrs. O’Brien, Mrs. Green, Mrs. Marsh, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Radley, Miss Jones, Mrs. McLachlan, Mrs. Angove, Mrs. Fletcher and Mrs. 'Wood.
