PAPATOETOE ANGLICANS
INDUCTION OF NEW VICAR CEREMONY AT PAPATOETOE St. George’s Anglican Church, Papatoetoe, was filled last evening, when a special service was conducted by the Archbishop, the Rev. A. W. Averill, on the occasion of the induction of the new vicar, the Rev. H. A. Partridge, M.A. During the course of an inspiring address, Archbishop Averill spoke very highly of the splendid services given to the parish by the former vicar, the Rev. P. C. Davis, and also on the good work accomplished in other districts by the Rev. Mr. Partridge, and assured the large gathering that Mr. Partridge would be of invaluable service to the district as a whole, in the work of God. Canon Payne, warden of St. John’s College, at which Mr. Partridge is a tutor, read the lesson. Archdeacon Simpkin acted as chaplain. Mr. J. Trimble, peoples’ warden, on behalf of the parishioners, presented the newly-inducted vicar with the keys of the church and the vicagare. Dr. Roberton, chairman of the Papatoetoe Orphan Home, was also present.
