Brennan i LAD Y BINE, 8.8 2 MYLES-NA-COPALEEN, 8.10 .. .. 3 Eight started. Won by two lengths and a-half. Time, 2.35 J. HOPEFUL STAKES Of £1,000; for two-year-olds; 5 furlongs. GOLDFIND (E. J. Watt), br g. by Psychology—Orofino, S.lO, Johnstone i SMALL CHANGE, 8.10 .. . . 7 *’ ** - ROBINS. 8.10 ;; 5 Eleven started. Won by five lengths. Time, 1.11. Goldfind was bred by Mr. T. H. Lowry, of Hawke’s Bay, and’ at the sale of yearlings held at Trentham last January he was bought on behalf of L. J. Watt by Mr. K. Austin, of Sydney, for 200gns. Orofino, dam of Goldfind. is by Finland from d’Oro (a full sister to Desert Gold). Orofino did _very little racing when owned by Mr. T. 11. Lowry, and trained by F. Davis, and was early i’etired to the stud. As a two-year-old Orofino was in the same stable as the brilliant filly Queen March, the best ,\ oungster of her year. It is interesting to record that both Orofino and Queen March had their first race in the Wanganui Debutante Stakes, o M , art i i P' ho started at odds of over _0 to 1) beating the well-backed Orofino. Queen March won a lot of races subsequently, but she never started at such a price again. Orofino s first foal is the now four-year-old Banket, who ranks as a full brother to the Brisbane winner.
