WESTERN AUSTRALIA OUT FOR 185 BOWLEY RETIRES HURT United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright PERTH, Thursday. The first match of the tour of the English cricketers, under the captaincy of A. H. H. Gilligan, was commenced today at Perth agaipst a Western Australian eleven. There was a small attendance. The weather was showery and rain necessitated an early luncheon. There was an enforced adjournment for 15 minutes in the afternoon. The wicket was dead. Western Australia won the toss and batted first. The score was 63 at lunch time. The first century took 95 minutes to compile. Ilorrocks made 51 and was batting 69 minutes. The play was featureless and the bowling was disappointing. The score at the tea adjournment was 132 for six wickets. The remaining batsmen added 53 runs, and the innings closed. Worthington and Allom were the most impressive bowlers. Both kept a fine length. Nichols belied his reputation for fastness, and the others were not remarkable. The feature of the day was the fine batting of Horrocks. The visitors had made 25 for no wickets in their first innings when -stumps were drawn.
