DEATHS INCREASE
BIRTHS AND MARRIAGES LOWER OCTOBER STATISTICS * A decrease in both births and marriages has marked the past month, in comparison with the figures for October of last year. Births fell from 290 last year to 259, while marriages decreased from 182 to 157. At the same time deaths rose from 157 to 179. The number of marriage ceremonies performed by the registrar also showed a decrease, the figures being 43 and 33, a falling away of 10 compared with last year. A decrease is also shown in the figures for the first ten months of this year compared with the same period last year, there being a decline of 182 in the total number of births and of 41 in the number of marriages, while the total number of deaths had increased by 57.
