FAREWELL TO OFFICER

LIEUTENANT JUDSON, V.C. Officers of the First Battalion, the Auckland Regiment, gave a farewell dinner last evening, in the Officers’ Club, to Lieutenant R. S. Judson, V.C., N.Z.S.C., who is leaving to take up duties in Taranaki. Lieutenant-Colonel T. H. Dawson, who presided, expressed his regret at losing Mr. Judson, while wishing him every success in his new sphere. The conduct of the battalion during the 10 years he had been stationed in Auckland was referred to by Lieutenant Judson in his reply. He mentioned, especially, the manner in which the “Battle of Woofit” had been conducted.

Farewell was also said to Captain B. W. Croker, who is removing shortly to Dannevirke, where he will follow his profession of architect.

Major E. Puttick was welcomed into the battalion by Lieutenant-Colonel Dawson.
