RIFLE SHOOTING
THAMES VALLEY CLUB From Our Ov:n Correspondent MORRINSVILLE, Today. The opening shoot of the Thames Valley (Defence) Rifle Club, which has been resuscitated after many years of dormancy, was held on Saturday. The fixture attracted an attendance of more than 100, including visitors from Waihi, Hamilton, Cambridge, Frankton and Matamata. The club experienced difficulty in securing a suitable range in the vicinity of Morrinsyiile, but the choice was a good one, and the range is stated to be well up to standard. Messrs. N. Clifford and F. Cowern. of Starkey's Road, offered the use of their properties and the members of the club prepared the grounds by a series of working bees. An all-comers’ handicap match, 200 yards, was won by J. Grigsby, of Morrinsville, with the possible. The best scores were: —McDonald (handicap 1), 33; El. A. Pirrit (3), 32; F. C. Kennedy (scr.), 31; Panton (4>. 31; Elarbut (scr). 30: Wallace. Cambridge (scr.), 30; Hill, Cambridge (scr), 30; Lentfer, Elamilton (scr), 29; L. Webber, Cambridge, 29; E. Hitchman (3), 29; N. Elay, Matamata (4), 29; Green, Cambridge (scr), 28; Ellis (3), 28; K. Buchanan (3), 28. A club match was won by Morrinsville, the scores being:—Morrinsville: Grigsby, 35; McDonald, 32; Kennedy, 31; Pirrit, 29; Panton, 27. Total, 154. Cambridge: Harbut, 30; Wallace, 30; Webber, 29; Green, president, 29. Total. 147. Frankton: Ingpen, 31; W. Bird, 30; Lentfer, president, 29; J. Bird, 29; Elay, 25. Total, 144.
