FOREIGN AFFAIRS EXPERT ON “THE TIMES” SIR VALENTINE CHIROL Australian and N.Z. Press Association (United Service) Reed. 12.30 p.m. LONDON, Tuesday. The death has occurred of Sir Valentine Chirol. Bjr Valentine Chirol was bora in 1552 and created a knight in 1912. He was educated chiefly in France and Germany, and entered the Foreign Office as a clerk in 1872. He succeeded Sir Donald Mackenzie Wallace as director of the Foreign Department of “The Times” iu 1899. He has travelled extensively throughout the British Dominions and the United States, and in 1912 was on the Royal Commission on Indian Public Services. He has written a number of publications on problems ol’ administration in India, Indian unrest and “The Egyptian Problem.” He retired in 1912.
