SEVEN DEAD IN FLAT
GAS KILLS WHOLE FAMILY IN NEW YORK A TRAGIC ACCIDENT (United Service) NEW YORK, Monday. Walter Cavanagh and his six mother less children were asphyxiated while sleeping in a three-roomed flat Etb£l Cavanagh, aged 17, kept house for her father. In reconstructing the tragedy the police believe that the girl rose early and placed a pot of water on a gas stove, then fell asleep. The water boiled over and extinguished the flame, but, it is thought, the gas continued to escape and suffocated the entire family.
