ELECTRICAL FORM OF ADVERTISING AUCKLAND CLUB ADDRESS Various advances in electrical advertising were stressed today when Mr, T. A. Mardon addressed members of the Auckland Advertising Club, About 30 members were present, and among the visitors was Mr. G. G. ►Stewart, president of the Wellington Advertising Club. Mr. G. C. Codlin, president of the club, occupied the chair. In tracing briefly the advance of commerce Mr. Mardon dwelt on the part played by advertising in its development. “Today we„ have electrical advertising which extends a merchant’s display front in a city block and establishes the placing of a sign,” lie said. “A sign serves as a connecting link between newspaper advertising and a shop display window.” Ho did not contend, he added, that electrical signs constituted the only form of advertising; in fact, other forms, for certain purposes, might be better, but it did have a definite place in the modern advertising world. It attracted people when they were at leisure. People congregated at night where lights were brightest, and electrical advertising brightened city streets.

Mr. Mardon, who concluded by giving a demonstration of Neon lighting, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
