BARRAGE ON SEVERN

PRACTICABLE COMMERCIAL PROPOSITION British Official Wireless RUGBY, Thursday. Mr. Vaughan, Labour member for Parliament for the Forest of Dean, announced at a meeting at Newnham-on-Severn that experts had reported to the Government that the scheme for a barrage on the River Severn was a practicable commercial proposition. It was estimated that the cost would be about £25,000,000. One result of this enterprise, said Mr. Vaughan, would be the sale of electricity at a fraction of a penny a unit.
