CANCER-SOCIETY RULES
AUCKLAND ASKING FOR AMENDMENTS FORMATION DEFERRED Through the need of amendments | to rules for the control and the disj tribution of funds, the resolution re- i ! cently made to form an Auckland ; division of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society was rescinded yesJ terday afternoon at a public meeting. I The decision to form the society ! in Auckland was reached on Septemi ber 25 at a public meeting. It was then stated that the registered rules ! placed the control and the distribuj lion of all funds gathered directly in the hands of the executive in Well- ! ington. The Wellington executive, 1 further, was absolved from the obli--1 gation to expend money in any pari ticular district of New' Zealand and ! part of the funds gathered fromthaP; i district.
This point was considered undesirable by the Auckland workers for the movement, and a sub-committee, w T ith Dr. E. B. Gunson as the convener, was appointed to report on the rules affecting the formation of a division. The report w'as read at a small public meeting in the Town Hall yesterday afternoon. The meeting rescinded the motion previously adopted to form the society and resolved to notify the central organisation that those concerned were ready to form an organisation w T ith the amendment to several rules to w'hich objection was taken. A letter from Dr. J. S. Elliott, on behalf of the Wellington central organisation, suggested that Auckland should proceed with formation pending the first annual meeting early next year, w'hen the rules probably W'ould be amended.
