ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
CONTROL BOARD MEETING . Two recommendations from the Finance Committee dealing with defaulting teams and referees were approved of at the weekly meeting of the Control Board of the Auckland Football Association last night. The first provides that Avhen a referee fails to officiate at a match for Avhich he has been appointed, and through this cause, the match has to be abandoned, the onus of paying the expenses and the ground fees will fall on the Referees’ Association. The second recommendation sets out that teams defaulting after the publication of fixtures will be required to pay the ground fees and referee’s expenses. The minor division committee advised that tho annual prize-giving night of the primary and secondary schools and the lower grades from third intermediate to seventh, would be held on October 24 in the Y.M.C.A. at 7.30 p.m. The following fixtures were arranged for next Saturday: Third Grade Final. —New Lynn v. Kiwi, Blandford Park, 3 p.m., Air. L. J. Check. Fourth Grade Championship Final. —Comrades v. Glen Eden, Blandford Park, 2 p.m., Air. A. J. Gaily. FINAL OF THISTLE CUP The final of the Thistle Cup will be played at Blandford Park by floodlight this evening, starting at eight o’clock. Tho competing teams are Alanurewa and Thistle. A preliminary match will be played between hockey teams representing St. Luke’s and Somerville. At the conclusion of the games, trophies won during the season in the first three grades tvill be presented. The Alanurewa team is as follows: Parks. A. Donaldson, Ross, Brown, Lees, Clark, Anderson, Williamson, Palmer, Hart, H. Donaldson.
