Akarana Yacht Club's Dance
WEEKLY GATHERING MANY DANCERS ATTEND There was a large attendance of members and guests at the Akarana Yacht Club's weekly dance, held in the clubhouse on Saturday evening, the rooms being brightly decorated for the occasion. | Excellent dance music was provided Iby Stacey’s Revellers, several new numbers being played. Members of the committee were: Mrs. Jeffers, who wore a black georgette frock. Mrs. Webster was wearing apricot georgette. Miss Ratcliff© chose a rose crepe de chine frock. Miss Ilanlen was in Chinese red velvet and diamente. AMONG THOSE PRESENT Members and friends present included: —Miss M. FRANKLIN BURNS CLUB ENJOYABLE SOCIAL AND DANCE BRIGHT PROGRAMME The Franklin Burns Club held a successful social and dance in the Drury PubUc Hall on Saturday evening. The following artists contributed items: Miss Helen Hogg, Miss Grace Stewart, Mr. L. Taylor, Mr. T. C. Seaton and Master Lawrence Johnston. The dance music was supplied by Mr. Postlewaight. Among those present were: Miss J. McLeod (Papatoetoe), who wore rose crepe de chine, with silver trimmings, finished with shoulder posy; Mrs. M. Johnstone (Papakura), sky blue embroidered georgette; Miss Helen Hogg (Remuera), frock of blue silk; Miss Ede, mauve taffeta and georgette; Miss Thelma McDowell, pink crepe de chine; Miss E. Moss, black crepe de chine with coffee lace; Miss Eva McDowell, ivory crepe de chine, with lace overdress; Mrs. Boyd (Rawene), panne velvet frock; Miss A. Sharpe (Auckland), black crepe de chine; Mrs. H. Derbyshire, champagne crepe de chine; Mrs. H. F. Sharpe, black charmeuse; Airs. J. N. Crawford, new green velour. Mrs. H. E. Cossey was in black velvet and gold lace; Airs. J. AI. Cossey, pink georgette frock; Aliss T. Webster (Wanganui), black satin; Aliss M. McDowell, green georgette, uneven hemline, with shawl to tone; Miss L. AtcDowell (Pukekohe), blue satin and gold trimming; Aliss N. Postlewaight, mauve rayon and shoulder posy; Aliss Grace Stewart, orange and taffeta; Miss Kay Brookes, lemon taffeta, with alice blue trimmings; Aliss Phil Gardiner, sunset taffeta. BIRTHDAY PARTY CHILDREN ENTERTAINED Mrs. Cumberworth, of Paitapu, gave a delightful children’s party to celebrate the sixth birthday of her little nephew, James Desmond Ryan, who is a visitor from Devonport. The decorations were red and gold streamers, the tables being charmingly arranged with cherry blossoms and red primroses. Old-time games were enjoyed by the little guests, who spent a very happy time
