NEW BRIGHTON TROTS
MEETING ON SATURDAY ACCEPTANCES POSTED The spring: fixture of the New* Brighton Trotting Club will be held on Saturday next. and. as usual, there is promise of large fields and good racing. • Following are the acceptances: INNOVATION HANDICAP
TROTTING AT EPSOM NORTHLAND FIXTURE NEXT AUCKLAND’S ACCEPTANCE DAY There was a large number of horses at Alexandra Park this forenoon, but the overnight rain had left the main training track in a greasy state, consequently any work undertaken was essayed on the sand track. Several Northland and Auckland candidates were present, but nothing beyond strong unhoppled work was indulged in. There is every indication that Epsom-trained horses will be well in evidence at AVliangarei on Saturday. * =f- * A good number of representatives are also receiving special attention for the Auckland fixture which eventuates on October 26 and 28. Owners and trainers should note that acceptances for all first-day events close with secretary Mabee on Friday next at 5 pan. Owners’ Bad Luck McKendrick Bros. experienced a stroke of bad luck during the weekend, losing the promising four-year-old filly Ohoysa, by Blue Mountain King from Lou Dillon. Although she had not been raced much she showed ability last season in the South by fighting out a great finish at Addington with Lindbergh in a heat for three-year-olds, getting second in 3.29. Since that attractive performance her owners turned down several good offers for the filly. The cause of death was a telescoped intestine. * * * Advice has been received by the Waikato Trotting Club that the dates committee of the New Zealand Conference has allotted April 5 as the date of the autumn fixture, in lieu of March 1, which was originally claimed.
