METHODIST CIRCUIT
QUARTERLY MEETING HELD Largo increases in membership were reported in the churches at Kingsland, Dominion Road, Mount Roskill and Kdendale and encouraging reports were received of the work being done in the Sunday schools, at the quarterly meeting of the Auckland Central Methodist Circuit, held last Monday evening. The Rev. W. Walker presided over a large gathering. The publication o£ a circuit magazine was left in the hands of th» committee and it is anticipated that the present paper. ' Plan.” will give part to an effective circuit paper in New Zealand. According to the balance-sheet, the circuit was in a very satisfactory financial position, which was stated to lmve been due largely to a grant for church extension work made by th® trustees of Pitt Street Church. Mr. F. S. Steinert and Mr. W. R. Dungay presented a report on their visitations of the Sunday schools in the circuit and indicated that very effective work was being accomplished among the young people. Mr. J. Joiner and Mr. Fowler were elected, visitors for the ensuing quarter. The congratulations of the meeting were extended to the Edendale Sunday School for its splendid work in raising £25 for foreign mission work. It was also reported; that the sunt of £ 400 had been raided in the circuit by Mrs. Smith on behalf of the orphanages, and it was decided to hold another effort for the same cause on December 15. Crowe and N. Bennett were appointed representatives to the synod to be held in th® Pitt Street Church on November 2').
