MORRINSVILLE NOTES
Morrinsville boys made a good display at the Southwell School. Hamilton, annual boxing tournament held on Friday evening. Wyatt (Morrinsville) won the light-weight title; Wilkie (Morrinsville) fought a draw in the final for the feather-weights; Bernstein (Morrinsville) reached the final for the bantam-weights; Craig (Morrinsville). the middle-weight semi-final. '■ Taken all round the boxing was of > high standard and very willing. * * * The Morrinsville Rifle Club has ; secured a range site on the properties ( of Messrs. H. Clifford and F. J. Cow- I ern. Starkey Road, and working-bees : have been preparing the range re- 1 recently. A practice shoot is to be held on Sat- 1 ! urday. and an official opening is to j •be held later in the month. The club ] ! has a membership of 60 and a success- | J ful season is anticipated. ! Mr. Ramsay, of Kercone, received j ; painful facial injuries through being J ; kicked by a horse during the week-end. \ j Mr. Ramsay was attending to the anij mal when it lashed out and struck Mr. j Ramsay on the head. He became uni conscious and several stitches had to i be inserted in his head. | An epidemic of measles is prevalent in Morrinsville at the present time. The disease is not of the virulent type, the spots disappearing in a few days in most cases. Despite the strong counter-attrac- j tion the attendance at the inaugural j display of the talkies in the Regent Theatre, Morrinsville, was capacity j strength; in fact, people were turned \ away.
