VAN-DRIVER IN WRONG

CRASH WITH MOTOR-CYCLIST DAMAGES AGAINST MOTORIST Damages amounting to £64 as a sequel to a collision between a motorcycle and a motor-van at the intersection of Great North Road and King Street, were awarded by Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., today, to Alwyn John McGregor against the van-driver, Eric G. Puddle.

According to the evidence, said the magistrate, McGregor was motorcycling along Great North Road, and Puddle’s van came out of King Street with the intention of turning in the same direction as the motor-cyclist was travelling. Both vehicles were moving at the same speed. ‘ The driver of a vehicle coming from a side-street on to the main road must exercise caution.” said the magistrate. ”To come out of a side-street at the same pace ns the traffic travelling along the main thoroughfare is certainly a negligent way of driving.”
